The 2008-09 season was another banner year for Jacksonville State Athletics, as the Gamecocks claimed six Ohio Valley Conference championships to up its five-year total in the OVC to 37 league titles, almost doubling the number of titles won by the next closest team. During the season, JSU had seven players named OVC Player of Freshman of the Year, four All-Americans and five coaches honored by their peers as the OVC’s Coach of the Year in their sport. In addition, three teams represented JSU in the NCAA Championships during 2008-09, with the softball team winning the NCAA Knoxville Regional and advancing to the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super-Regional Final. JSU’s 37 conference titles over the last five seasons marks the most successful span in the JSU Athletic Department’s storied history.
